Big Moment: First Day of School

What a difference a year makes.  Just one year ago in January of 2011, we were documenting the amazing feat that was little baby Eloise taking her first steps.  She was so uncertain of her footwork and wobbled back and forth.  You can tell by the sound in Nat's voice (and the look) on my face that we were filled with pride.

The saying goes "They sure do grow up fast".  And, if this post is does anything, it cements that notion as fact.  365 days after Eloise took her firs step, we ushered her out the door to take in her first day of "school".  Yup.  School.

We enrolled her in a 2-day-a-week Montessori program for 2 and 3 year olds in our town.

As we prepared for the first day, Eloise swelled with pride on our front porch (see the photos below) as she set off on this new adventure.  She was so excited to go.  Nat was excited to see her go, grow, learn.  And for herself to get a MUCH-EARNED 2 hour break.  But me?  I couldn't have been more emotional.  There were only 2 Parrillo's who cried when we left Eloise behind in her classroom:  and one of them wasn't Nat!

After a period of adjustment, Ellie's instructor reported back that she adjusted well and participated well in class.  She's the youngest member of the class, so this can only help her grow and develop.  I can't wait to see how smart she becomes.

We took her back for day 2 of the class just yesterday and while there were more tears when we left her with the teachers, we could barely get her back in her carseat after the class.  She didn't want to leave - she loved it so much.

I KNOW there will be plenty of other milestones and landmarks in my little darling Eloise's life, but (hopefully) when she's older, she'll have a chance to read these posts and know that she wasn't alone when she stepped out to take on new endeavors.  Her amazing Momma and emotional Dadda were standing right behind her, supporting her and encouraging her the whole time.
